CARE FACILITY OPERATING COSTS
Advice received by the founding committee indicated that, because of staffing costs, a supportive residential care facility with less than 30 residents was not financially viable. It was felt that accommodation for 12 residents was more appropriate for our expected needs.
A financial structure was sought that would make it possible to provide such a sheltered care facility but still have fees and charges that were within a reasonable range. Details of the structure that evolved are explained below, but financial viability does depend upon the facilities being appreciated and used by Christian Scientists.
It has also been possible to meet extra needs for special nursing, with the dedicated additional work of the visiting Christian Science nurse and sometimes Christian Science nurses from both interstate and overseas.
The need and level of care are under constant review.
