TESTIMONIALS

"I love living at The Heights and would thoroughly recommend it for a happy, peaceful, companionable place to live. The gardens are lovely with so many trees. When my husband passed on and I had no family it seemed the right time to move to Melbourne from interstate and come here.

My cat and I are very comfortable in our independent two bed, two bath unit with a small garden. I love the companionship of having people around. The meals from The House are delicious and can be delivered to one’s unit or eaten in the dining room.

Glen Iris is a beautiful convenient suburb."

"My intention was always to retire to The Heights, and I did so four years ago and have not regretted it for a moment.

I feel blessed to be able to live in a Christian Science supported community where everyone shares a common thought.  The Unit holders have formed a lovely Village where everyone is supportive and nurturing of each other including the Residents of the house.  There is a lovely calming ambience, and everyone is welcomed."

"My wife and I moved into the Heights two years ago. The past two years have been a difficult period for most people around the world, but we are so grateful to have spent this time with friends in this caring environment. As residents of the Heights, I have found that our view is sometimes quite different to those who only know the Heights by name or view it as simply another aged residential facility. So what is it that I find so appealing about living here?

Firstly, the Heights is a group of very dedicated Christian Scientists who openly share their inspiration with other residents. There is a sharing of lectures, articles, and inspiration on Christian Science between those who see their progress in Christian Science as an important life goal.

It is the most giving and sharing environment that I know, firstly of care for others, looking out to make sure your neighbour is ok. This extends to prayerful support, nursing care when necessary, sharing of food and baking. It may be as simple as helping our neighbour to remove the lid off a jar, to weed their garden for them or help them with technical computing issues.

One of our residents produces the Heights Hullabaloo a monthly paper of puzzles, jokes, observations and fun. Another resident organises events such as croquet on the lawn, bbq's or musical afternoons. Occasionally we will watch a movie together in the activities room or work on a collective jigsaw. We have a library where we can share our favourite books.

We have a few garden lovers who enjoy sharing their knowledge of plants. We also make some of the best compost that you have ever seen. The leaves off the giant oak tree make an excellent compost and it is in high demand by the gardeners. People grow vegetables, lemons and strawberries and share these with other residents.

Children and pets are always welcome visitors, and their presence can brighten the day of those who may be feeling low."

"I am glad I found a spacious unit at the Heights with a courtyard. This enabled me to bring my little dog. I like the friendly and pleasant atmosphere here, and there is always privacy if you want it and company if you don't.

I feel blessed to live here."

“We love staying in one of the guest units at The Heights whenever we come to Melbourne to visit our family. We find it is always clean, comfortable and welcoming after our long drive from Adelaide, with a meal ready to heat in the refrigerator and warm bed at night. For the rest of our stay, the Ashburton shops are nearby and convenient and the Waverley Christian Science Church not far away. It is well within our budget and really is a home away from home where we can invite our family to share a meal with us.”

"I am really happy with my unit and have been able to make it my own with a few changes. The atmosphere at The Heights is peaceful and beautiful with the gardens, trees, and birds. We are privileged to live in the lovely suburb of Glen Iris. It is wonderful to have friends all around on the same spiritual path, and company whenever one wants it, especially as the only family I have is cousins interstate and overseas.

Everyone including the staff seem to be happy and enjoy being here. The love and care given to the residents of the House is very evident. I am sure everyone living in this village feels as I do that we are privileged to have a facility for Christian Scientists in Australasia and would like to see it progress from strength to strength."
